It was posted earlier today that Kouji Seo’s Kimi no Iru Machi (A Town Where You Live) would be coming to an end on February 12, 2014. In addition, an OVA bundled with the 27th volume of the manga will be animating the conclusion of the series. The 27th volume is scheduled to be released on March 17, 2014.
I personally really enjoyed the manga series since I picked it up last summer. I found myself getting really attached to the characters and watching them progress in their lives all the way from high school to being adults in the workforce and having their own families. While I know the manga gets a lot of flak for the recent chapters where there was little to no development, and I agree that it’s probably about time it’s come to an end, I can’t help but feel sad that the day has finally come where it draws to a close. Seeing this group of characters grow up together and then become somewhat distant as they grow older and their lives take them into different directions was relatable for many.
I’m hoping that the final chapter and the adaptation does the series justice and wraps up everything in the end. Anime only followers probably won’t be able to follow the new OVA since the anime series ended off approximately 100 chapters earlier and changed up a lot of the story. I wasn’t a big fan of the anime series that aired back in Summer 2013 but in the end, it was nice to see one of my favourite series being animated. I summed up my thoughts on my previous blog which can be found here.
You can now read my post-series thoughts on Kimi no Iru Machi as well.
