Surprisingly, Miyuki was barely present this episode! You would have thought that she’d intervene with Mayumi’s advances towards Tatsuya. Even though Tatsuya is emotionless, it’s nice to see that he isn’t oblivious and calls Mayumi’s bluff.
I thought it was interesting, that despite being gifted with magic, magicians are considered second rate citizens. They’re stronger than normal humans since they have the ability to cast magic, yet they’re being used as weapons. Magicians are basically the pawns of the officials who do their dirty work for them. These students just want to better society with their magic, not cause fear and destruction.
The Chinese have begun to move, placing a target on Tatsuya’s back. He’s gathered their attention by now which poses a threat to his friends. They’re going to end up in the crossfire between nations because of Tatsuya’s extracurricular activities.
At least Tatsuya is being a good guy, and giving his classmates some screen time. Instead of handling the stalkers himself, he gives them a chance to fail, which will ultimately make him look even greater in comparison! I thought it was a bit weird for Erika and Leo to just drop their guard because Jiro claims to not be an enemy. I mean… this guy was just throwing knives at them a second ago, yet they let him free to hear what he has to say.
The mention of modified human beings comes up again during their little scuffle as well. I’m guessing since not everyone can be gifted with magic, the political figures had to have some reassurance that they wouldn’t be overthrown by the magicians. So far, we’ve had a lot of magic battles, where Tatsuya literally one shot everyone. I would love to see Tatsuya’s physical strength (especially since it was noted about in the beginning of the series) rather than more magic battles.
The end of the episode kind of reminds us that the world isn’t as happy-go-lucky as it may appear (at least from their daily school lives). Tension is high between the nations still and high ranking officials don’t show any mercy to those in their way. Jiro is instantly killed by Lu Gonghu with his bare hands.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see Tatsuya’s physical capabilities in this final arc, as well as the full body suit that appeared in the OP. To be honest, I’m a bit tired of seeing these magical fights. I’ve had enough of Tatsuya slaying everyone (including his cheer squad) with the flick of a finger!
