I’m a bit disappointed at how this episode started off. The previous episode ended rather abruptly as Tatsuya was in the middle of diffusing the situation. I expected this episode to start off with a continuation of where things left off. Instead, Tatsuya’s already reporting the incident to the committee and resolved everything off screen. It feels as if they really tried to squeeze everything into this one episode. They skipped over both the opening and ending despite the episode not being all that action packed. Mahouka at the moment, hasn’t really amazed me but that’s probably a result of the need to heavily explain and introduce the world. I’m pretty sure that I’ll find the series more enjoyable and interesting by the mid-way point when actual conflicts and battles arise.
Miyuki’s character is developing into a complete brocon at this rate. While Tatsuya seems to be self-aware of this, it makes me wonder how serious Miyuki is with her behaviour. Based on the first episode, it seemed that she was a bit more reluctant to step over certain boundaries. However, she’s now clearly showing her distaste in other girls fawning over her precious brother or spending time with him. I’m not really a fan of this behaviour but it does make me more interested in finding out about their past and what lead her to this. Hopefully we get more into that now that they’ve mentioned one of their secrets (being Yotsubas). I’d also like to see what Miyuki is actually capable of in terms of combat. She keeps clinging to her all powerful brother but Miyuki’s magical ability is supposedly much greater than Tatsuya’s.
It looks like antagonists are also starting to appear. Things were getting a little stale for me since there hasn’t been any real conflict as of yet. These “terrorists” within the school aim to eliminate the discrimination based on one’s magical capabilities. In this school, the students are evaluated based on their magical abilities. Their entire worth/value is based on something that they have little to no control over, which basically affects how they’ll live their lives. This type of belief and system creates inequalities within society and prejudice among the civilians. I think it’ll be interesting to see how Tatsuya confronts these “terrorists” since their aim sounds logical. Tatsuya himself has experienced discrimination because of his classification within the school and should know that the current system is flawed.

P.S. I apologize that this post is delayed, there were some issues with the web hosting over the weekend but things should be fixed now.
