Black Bullet Episode 4 – Thoughts

The secret to Rentarou’s incredible combat abilities can be attributed due to his varanium transplants. I guess this also explains a bit about his quick recovery in the previous episode and what would have appeared to be fatal wounds. I think they managed to really set the mood for the scene where Rentarou suffered a fatal wound from Kagetane. The music along with Enju’s pleas really had me captivated. Rentarou’s panicking along with the fading of the camera also contributed to the overall mood. However, what I disliked was what followed after. The whole explanation of the AGV really turned me off even though it was introduced last episode. The whole 20% chance of turning into a Gastrea followed by Rentarou being perfectly fine seemed really unnecessary to me. Black Bullet Episode 3 – Thoughts

Rentarou and Muroto’s (the doctor) conversation at the start of the episode helped Rentarou put things into perspective. While the world may be harsh for Enju and other cursed children, Rentarou realizes that he needs to be someone that Enju can always rely on. (more…)

Black Bullet Episode 2 – Thoughts

I thought that this episode was a significant improvement over the first one. The overall tone of the episode was much more serious which seems more appropriate in their current situation. The way the majority of the world views cursed children differs greatly from Rentarou’s and Enju’s relationship. To them, cursed children were born from the disease that is bringing humanity to the brink of extinction. Due to that reason, the rest of the civil officers treat them as tools who were born to be used. The other initiators aren’t as fortunate as Enju who has been given the privilege to live like a normal girl by Rentarou. (more…)

Black Bullet Episode 1 – Thoughts

I guess the second show that I’ll be trying to cover on a weekly basis will be Black Bullet. I’ve been pretty excited for this series after watching the previews and seeing the cast line up. I thought that the visuals and animation were decent, if not slightly better than most shows currently airing. In addition to that, I’m really enjoying the soundtrack of the show and it seems to fit the mood of the show perfectly. (more…)
