Top Anime Opening Songs Fall 2014 Season

Top Anime Opening Songs – Fall 2014

We’re approaching the halfway mark for the fall anime season. This has given me plenty of time to have multiple listen throughs of the openings and pick out my favorites! Normally, I would post my favorite endings of the season along with the OPs, but with so many great songs, I had to split them up. ¬†As a disclaimer, this list is based on my own personal preferences so my opinion is not absolute (unless you want it to be)!

Fall 2014: Top Anime Opening Songs

8. Grisaia no Kajitsu – Rakuen no Tsubasa by Maon Kurosaki

Top 10 Anime Opening songs

When I first saw Grisaia, it seemed like a generic harem to me. But the opening changes my perception of the series, by giving it a more dramatic tone to it. It also helps that I think Maon Kurosaki is a fabulous singer and loved her previous works (Tokyo Ravens and High School of the Dead songs in particular).

7. Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji – LOVE GOOD TIME by SpecialThanks

Fall 2014 Anime Season Best Openings

I usually don’t place these pop like songs on my favorite lists, but LOVE GOOD TIME is just too catchy! Overall, it’s just upbeat and is an uplifting song.

6. Amagi Brilliant Park – Extra Magic Hour by Akino with bless4

2014 Anime Songs

What a grand opening for an eccentric series! When I first heard the beat, it reminded me a lot like ZAQ’s songs. Either way, I think the vocals is what makes Extra Magic Hour stand out to me. I’m not really sure how to describe it, but I’d say that the singing is very powerful and gives the song a very upbeat feel.

5. Akame ga KillLIAR MASK by Rika Mayama

Top Anime Openings 2014

Technically a summer anime, but this is the new opening for the second half so why not? I really liked the original OP for Akame ga Kill and wasn’t too sure how I felt about this change. After a few episodes though, LIAR MASK has really grown on me. I think it has a certain whimsical feel to it at the beginning, which I believe, captures some of the despair in the series.

4. Parasyte – Let Me Hear by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Awesome Anime Songs Fall 2014

I’m usually not a fan of “heavy metal” or what some would classify as screamo music. But for some reason, I have enjoyed several of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ songs. I first heard of them from Hunter x Hunter and Brynhildr, and found that their songs really grew on me. The synthesized/auto tuned vocals are probably my favorite aspect of their songs

3. Fate/Stay Night (2014) – Ideal White by Mashiro Ayano

Greatest Anime Openings

After hearing Fate/Zero’s soundtrack, I knew Fate Stay/Night would be of the same caliber. While I was a little bummed that it wasn’t Kalafina or LiSA doing it, Mashiro Ayano won me over. Overall, it’s a great song that captures the energy of the series beautifully.

2. Psycho Pass 2 – Enigmatic Feeling by Ling Tosite Sigure

Best Anime Songs Fall 2014

I’ve listened to several of Ling Tosite Sigure’s songs, and I’m actually not the biggest fan of a lot of them. With that said, I have loved every single one of their songs that have been used for an anime theme. Maybe it’s the animation that compliments their songs, making it more enjoyable for me. When I first watched it, I was mesmerized by the eeriness of the repeating beat and images. Overall, another great song by Ling Tosite Sigure and probably would have been my favorite if not for the next song!

1. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso – Hikaru nara by Goose House

Fall 2014 Best Anime Opening

It was a tough decision for me to choose my favorite opening, but Kimi Uso’s OP just narrowly cinched the spot. All of Goose House’s songs are full of energy, being composed by such a large group. Heck, every time I watch one of their live performances, they just look like they’re having so much fun! I especially love how they slowly build up to the big chorus where everyone sings in unison. The visuals combined with the music really left an impact on me. Separate, they’re both great, but when combined, it’s one of the most powerful openings that I have seen.

Well there you have my list of my favorite OPs of the fall season. As much as I would have liked to link the actual openings alongside their animation, due to copyright issues, I tried to link to an official source. With that said, if any links go dead, just let me know and I’ll try to find a new link. I’ll post my favorite endings of the season later on in the week in a separate post, since like the openings, there are too many great songs this season!

Feel free to share your favorite openings of the season!

  1. Enigmatic Feeling by Ling Tosite Sigure and Let Me Hear by Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas are my only favorite anime opening theme songs of the Fall 2014 Anime Season.

I also find that with Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas I like their songs more when there is more auto-tuned singing present. Just the screamo would be too much for me. Thanks for sharing ^-^

    1. Yeah, I’m finding that the auto-tuned aspect makes the songs a lot catchier to me. Even if I have no idea what their lyrics are, the auto tuning makes me forget about it and I can just enjoy the music!
